Judging a book by its cover

Books are amazing. They are like little packages that are portable, available and of course, tell a story. I've always been attracted to books because of their covers - sadly, I've not yet read any of the books above, but I thoroughly appreciate their visual appeal. They are all put out by New Directions - on their website, they have SO many awesome covers - I just couldn't post them all, so I chose some from the nearest bookshelf...

Ashley,
I just (re)discovered your blog and feel glad. I go back to work tomorrow and so I am especially savoring the connection with your sensibility and thoughts and remembering sitting and chatting on the front steps at Ashland. I grew up with New Directions, and I agree they really made beautiful books. I have read a number of them and really love Dylan Thomas especially. When I was in high school some of us put on a small performance of it in the school gym. It was a lot of fun.

Love, Joan

ooops. That was not so articulate. We performed Under MilkWood, (not Dylan Thomas. That and A Child's Christmas in Wales were too favorites, others are wonderful too, (the one that begins "August Bank Holiday)
